Thematic Tours. Villa el Salvador: A prosperous shanty town in the middle of the desert

Villa el Salvador appeared in 1971 as the result of the relocation of a huge group of invaders. Through the years, this town became a sort of symbol of the growing of Lima due to its special characteristics. María Elena Moyano was a syndicate leader from VES killed by Lightning Path in the nineties. A film by local filmmaker Chicho Durant set in this district tells her story.
