INSTITUTO ITALIANO DE CULTURA presents two music events: The first one is a Show with the most famous Italian songs in the renewed ‘Luigi Pirandello’ theatre. June 1st 8 pm. Av. Alejandro Tirado 274, half block from Av. Arequipa block 10th. The second one is a must for classic music lovers: Beethoven 32 Sonatas played by the famous Italian pianist Christian Leotta, presenting the complete cycle for the first time in Peru. From June 10th until July 5th at 8 pm in Universidad de Lima, Av. Javier Prado Este s/n Surco. Walking access: Av. Manuel Holguín, in front of Jockey Plaza. Both events are free.


ALIANZA FRANCESA presents ‘La Fête de la Musique’. 3 days of concerts all around the city: 19th, 20th and 21st June. As part of the event, from the 17th until the 28th, AF Miraflores will present some interesting documentaries about famous contemporary musicians, like Glenn Gould, Manu Chao, Ray Lema and others. In its Art Gallery you could also visit until June 10th an exhibition that shows a selection of paints by famous Peruvian artists that have passed a formative period in France, like Szyzlo, Quintanilla, Chávez, Hastings, Rodríguez Larraín, Shinki, Yaker and others.       CENTRO CULTURAL DE ESPAÑA presents an exhibition titled ‘Mujeres al proyecto’, showing different pieces (furniture, lamps, textiles, etc.) by Spanish female designers. The first 3 days of June you can watch ‘Beatles’ films. During the last 2 weeks of June will take place the Gay Film Festival ‘Outfestperú’. Free entrance.



    Until July 31st you can visit the Contemporary Art Collection of San Marcos University inside the courtyards of its beautiful ‘Casona’, Av. Nicolás de Piérola 1222, Parque Universitario.


    ‘Centro Cultural Inca Garcilaso’ presents an installation by Esther Vainstein and a Guitar Concert on the 22nd at 7:30 pm presenting Denys Bernard who will play Latin American melodies. Jr. Ucayali 391, in front of San Pedro Church. Both events are free.


       ‘Centro Fundación Telefónica’, a place dedicated to promote art as a result of the use of new technologies, shows the exhibition ‘Geografías Celulares’ until June 13th. There is also an interactive writing installation (until June 6th) and a group of videos by Gloria Arteaga (until June 27th). Av. Arequipa 1155.


       WORLD CUP: Downtown has two nice bars for following the matches, both located in the surroundings of San Martín Square: ‘Estadio Futbol Club’, Av. Nicolás de Piérola 926, and ‘Rincón Cervecero’, Jirón de la Unión 1045.

            BARRANCO: Among the many art galleries located in this district we have chosen the José Tola Exhibition in ‘Lucía de la Puente’, Paseo Saenz Peña 206, until June 19th.


       CHORRILLOS: On June 29th takes place the Saint Peter Celebration, starting in ‘Pescadores’ beach and climbing up to ‘Malecón Iglesias’ for finishing in ‘Plaza Matriz’, Chorrillos main square. Local fishermen follow San Pedro in a boat journey so he will give them plenty of fishes.
