InsideLima Walking Tours

INSIDELIMA WALKING TOURS:

Our walking tours are conceived for offering a vivid image of the actual city. Exploring Lima with us, you will discover places that do not appear in the tour guide books. The contrasting spirit of the city will show out in the variety of places included in our tours.

Insidelima offers interdisciplinary Walking Tours in order to build a rich and complex image of the city. These are some of the issues that we touch in our tours: History, Urban Evolution, Architecture, Sociology, Housing, Transportation, Art, Literature, Gastronomy, etc. Therefore, we include in our itineraries different kind of stops, as markets, art galleries, typical bars, private collections, etc. We consider that this approach will help you to understand the city as a sum of contrasting identities. Insidelima has 3 standard walking tours, each one lasting half day. We can also organise special city tours for larger groups including private transportation.

1. Downtown Walking Tour:  4 hours duration, starting in Campo de Marte and finishing close to Plaza de Armas. Includes the entrance to different museums and art galleries. Optional: bar stops for tasting typical sandwichs, local desserts and pisco cocktails.

2. Miraflores & San Isidro Walking Tour: 4 hours duration, starting in Surquillo Market and finishing in Miguel Dasso street. Inlcudes archaeological sites, art galleries and the best bookshop in town. Optional: bar stops for tasting typical sandwichs, local desserts and pisco cocktails.

3. Barranco & Chorrillos Walking Tour: 4 hours duration, starting in MAC park and finishing in ‘Salto del Fraile’. Includes art galleries, handcraft exhibitions, ocean front views and the jump of the monk (salto del fraile). Optional: bar stops for tasting typical sandwichs, local desserts and pisco cocktails.

Exploring other areas of the city: The whole city of Lima, including Callao the port, is divided into 49 different areas or ‘districts’, each one having its own mayor, therefore each district is considered a kind of little city. Every district has a main square surrounded by the city hall and the church, imitating a little bit the central Plaza de Armas of Lima. Even if it is quite impossible to make a ‘whole Lima tour’ going to each and every district, there are some areas that deserve a visit due to their history, their monuments, etc. Here we mention just some of them:

  • Pueblo Libre
  • Magdalena
  • Callao (including downtown Callao and La Punta)
  • La Victoria
  • Surco
  • Villa el Salvador

Insidelima organises visits and walking tours in many of these areas.

Thematic Walking Tours:  Insidelima offers also thematic tours according to a specific interest: Architecture, Art, Literature, Gastronomy, etc.
